For every property in which a Reward is associated, a numeric claim code is generated. The Claim Code associates the time of the request initiation by the user, the value of the offered Reward, and the Poster who created the listing. Since the cost of the property may change over time, the value of a Reward may change if the Poster selected to peg the Reward as a percentage of the price. However, the amount of the Reward offered to a prospective tenant/homebuyer is specific to the time the Claim Code was generated. Should the Poster alter the Reward amount at a later date, the original user may only claim the amount associated with his or her Claim Code.

A prospective tenant/homebuyer may request a claim code by clicking the “Print Claim Code” or “Print Claim Code” links on the property profile.



Print Claim Code generates a printable form the prospective tenant/homebuyer may present to the Poster when communicating or visiting the property to demonstrate an interest claim a Reward should a transaction occur.

SMS Claim Code accomplishes the same goal, but allows you to maintain a paperless copy that may be retrieved from your wireless mobile device when visiting the property.

Copies of requested Claim Codes will be stored in the My Mwendo area of the website.



Within the “Claim Code” area of My Mwendo, the Status (or “transaction in progress” notice) indicates the level of progress in obtaining a Reward. Depending on whether you are a prospective tenant/homebuyer or the Poster who created a listing, different indications will appear.

Status Indicators for Prospective Tenants/Homebuyers:

• Obtain Keyword First – You have requested a Claim Code, but have yet to contact the Poster to obtain his or her Conversation Keyword.
• Initial Contact Occurred – You have provided your Claim Code to the Poster and obtained his or her Conversation Keyword.
• Claim – You have signed a lease or purchase agreement and wish to claim a Reward. You will be directed to provide details of the transaction.
• Reward Denied – The Poster has denied the tenant/homebuyer’s Reward request due to a bona fide dispute or inconsistencies in the claim form. You may resubmit the request. To protest a claim denial, please contact us.
• Processing Payment – The Poster accepted your claim request and will submit payment.
• Payment Completed – The Poster has made his or her payment to Mwendo who will in turn offer you a Reward for using its service to locate a property.
• System Error – A system error has occurred. Most likely due to a payment issue (i.e., lack of funds, etc.).

Status Indicators for Posters:
Once a prospective tenant/homebuyer makes contact and either you or they inform Mwendo of this initial communication, that person’s Claim Code appears in your My Mwendo area.

• Initial Contact Occurred – The prospective tenant/homebuyer has made initial contact and provided his or her Claim Code.
• Reward Requested – A purchase or lease agreement has been made between you and the tenant/homebuyer. Either you or the new tenant/homebuyer has informed Mwendo of the agreement
• Payment Submitted – You have submitted payment of the processing fee and Reward.
• Payment Completed – Mwendo received your payment and provided a Reward to the tenant/homebuyer, if applicable.
• Reward Denied – You have denied the tenant/homebuyer Reward request due to a bona fide dispute or inconsistencies in the claim form. The tenant/homebuyer may resubmit the request.
• System Error – A system error has occurred. Most likely due to a payment issue (i.e., lack of funds, etc.).
